PSPlayerMT is a multimedia player for PSP.
This software sets the PSP clock to 333MHz. Please use at your own risk.
Features
- Support most current video/audio file formats, such as: avi, mov, mp4, ogm, mkv, nut, asf, wmv, mp3, m4a, wma, ogg, asf, wav... (Some are not supported due to bugs.)
- Support a wide range of video/audio codecs, such as: MPEG1/2/4 video (divx, xvid), Windows Media video, Ogg Theora, Mpeg audio (MP2, MP3, AAC), AC3, OGG, Windows Media audio...
- No resolution or frame rate limitations. Full resolution 480x272 video playback is possible. Videos encoded at 24FPS can be played.
- Built-in audio resampling. Converts various sample rates to PSP-compatible 44.1KHz, STEREO audio with very fast processing speed.
- Powerful buffering feature. Compensates for stuttering due to CPU speed limitations.
- Almost no crashes when playing avi files.
- Sleep mode supported (PSP 1.5).

Known issues
- Due to the limitations of the PSP’s CPU, high bitrate videos or very fast-moving videos may not play smoothly.
- Rendering YUV420 (YV12) data using the PSP’s graphics processor may cause noticeable quality degradation due to accuracy issues.
- Newer Windows Media codecs (e.g., WMV9) may not play correctly, and wmv and asf files may not function properly.
- OGG audio is not supported in avi files.
- Running the PSP at 333MHz will drain the battery faster and may cause unknown issues.
- If playback issues occur when running with the Eboot loader on version 2.0, creating a file named "smallbuf.txt" in the folder containing the executable will limit memory usage to 75% of the internal memory limit.
- For avi files, longer videos require more memory to store indexes, which reduces the available memory for buffering.
Changelog
2006/01/21
- Improved reading using Async mode: Reduced memory usage and fixed some bugs that enable WMA files to play.
- Increased buffering capacity: Now uses up to 16MB of memory for buffering. For 480x272 videos, up to 72 frames of data can be stored (on version 1.5). The audio buffer size has also been increased to previous levels.
- Changed color conversion method: Improved for better accuracy, though the difference may not be noticeable. As a result, the previous MOD color conversion method is no longer supported.
- Fixed audio stuttering issue: Audio with a sampling frequency lower than 44.1KHz no longer stutters after a while. ASFs with lower frequencies (32kHz, 22kHz) now play smoothly.
