Mega Drops is a homebrew game made for the PDRoms Coding Competition #3.99 (2nd place).

It is a puzzle game inspired by Puyo Puyo, Tetris Attack, Magical Drop 3, with Lumines-style visuals and electro music.

Installation

Copy the MegaDrops folder and paste it to your Memory Stick in your GAME folder.

User guide

The gameplay is very close to Puyo Puyo: a pair of blocks fall from the top, and you have to put it on the blocks stacking on the bottom so that the shapes match. You can rotate, move, and make the pair fall faster.

Collide 4 blocks of the same shape and they explode. But unlike Puyo Puyo, Mega Drops is a solo game: your goal is to resist until the end of the level, by eliminating the lines coming from the bottom.

The game contains 2 very different levels (in gameplay & style) each available in 3 difficulty modes.

The game also features a nice tutorial to get you started.

Compatibility

It should work on all firmwares (tested by the author on 3.71 M33).

Changelog

Update1

  • I made a 3rd level (mechanical groundwork), I'm not so satisfied with it but it is still ok.
