Daikatana for the Game Boy Color is an action-adventure game developed by Ion Storm. It is a handheld adaptation of the original Daikatana released for PC and consoles.
The development of Daikatana was marked by high expectations, extensive promotional efforts, and significant delays. Despite showing the game at E3 for three years and holding various launch events, the game faced substantial criticism upon release in April 2000. The N64 version was notably poorly received, while the Game Boy Color port, despite its positive qualities and being released in some regions, was never launched in the U.S. due to the negative press surrounding the main game.
In 2004, John Romero (creator of the franchise) released the Game Boy Color ROM of Daikatana for free on his website.
