DJSP is an mp3 player with various visualization outputs, an equalizer and support for custom Lua script plugins.

DJSP was participated in the PSPUpdates Homebrew Contest. An updated version was commercialized (distributed as a UMD) and was renamed to PSPAdvance.

Note: The author is not responsible if this software causes any damage to your PSP. Use at your own risk.

Features

  • LUA Scripting Support: Access the "Loading Lua script" option in the options window by pressing Select.
    • Allows easy plugin development for custom visuals, games, and applications.
    • Includes a game (DJ Squarez), a new visual, and sample Lua scripts to aid in plugin development. Lua Plugins can be developed easily with PSP USB options, eliminating the need to quit DJSP for Lua file editing. Refer to the luascript.txt file for detailed information on developing Lua script plugins.
  • 10 Different Audio Visuals: Press Left or Right Trigger to change.

- Energy Chaos, Remixed Chaos, Aqua Space, Particle Dream, Plasma Desuka, 4x Spectras, Circlez.

    • Cross fading between visuals available: per song, 1 min, 2 min, 5 min, or off.
  • Full 10-Band Equalizer Support: Allows volume adjustment beyond the PSP's limitations. Adjust bass, increase volume, etc.
  • Display modes: Change display mode by pressing X in visual mode. There are 3 modes: Normal, Suppress Display, and Power Saving (no visuals, consumes less power).
  • 4 Play modes: Normal, sequential, random, and repeat.
  • PSP USB Transfer mode: Enable/Disable in Options.
  • MP3 Playback: Supports MP3s of any length, up to 2GB.
  • Headphone Remote support.
  • Fast Forward and Restart: Faster than PSP's built-in MP3 player.
  • Transparent Windows: Display playtime and other pertinent information.
  • And some other interesting stuff you'll just have to discover yourselves.

Changelog

0.14a 2005/08/25

  • Lua Scripting language added into DJSP. Over 30 graphic, control and audio analyzation functions at your disposal. Develop your own visuals, games, and apps. I've written seven different Lua scripts for your disposal, including my Lua version of Squarez.
  • PSP USB Transfer Options implemented. Change

0.131a 2005/08/08

  • MP3s that are playing too fast now plays correctly. Upsampling of lower than 44khz MP3s.
  • I've added an easter egg (bonus) feature just for fun. (hint analog.)
  • If you found this update, you must have visited my website. Enjoy this secret release.

0.13a 2005/08/06

  • 3 new visual (Plasma Desuka, Remixed Chaos, and Aqua Space), brings to a grand total of 10 visuals!
  • Option to Cross Fade between Visuals (Per Song, 1 min, 2 min, 5 min, Off) Press Select to bring up the Options Window.
  • Now searches for all MP3s in /PSP/MUSIC/ including subfolders.
  • Implemented skip to Previous or Next Song. Press Left for previous and Right for Next. Holding Left will restart song, and Holding Right will Fast Forward.
  • Much much faster Fast Forward with acceleration. Holding Right Longer seeks faster and faster.
  • Implemented Headphone Remote Support.
  • Altered code to load essential files from installed folder/directory. It means that you can use any of the corrupt icon hiding programs and DJSP will still work. Also means all those people with mp3 window freezing problems can now run the program.
  • When exiting the program, you have to press the Home Key instead of Select. I needed Select.
  • Other small bug fixes. (They are more like ants this time compared to those earlier roaches).
  • Rewrote and added more concise instructions in the readme.txt.
  • I've been hearing a lot of good things about using DJSP and grafting it into the Car's Dashboard. I'd love to see some pics of them. Send them in and I'll post it up onto the website.
  • This is the biggest update I have made so far. Finally, this visual mp3 player is taking shape. :-) I still remember the days when the visuals were nothing but 10 lines of decimal numbers. Now after a couple of weeks, it's looking quite nice. Thanks to all the suggestions and complements. I've tried to put in as much as time allowed. If you can help out a bit, I don't have the money to support the website hosting. Every $10 I get allows me to keep the webspace for one more month. And if I ever (hopefully) get enough for a 2nd psp, I'll start doing research on adhoc and infrastructure access. I was envisioning a PSP version of Tetrinet. Or perhaps legal mp3 trading, but I digress. Enjoy DJSP 0.13a.

0.12a 2005/07/30

  • Full 10-Band Equalizer Implemented!!! Press Triangle to bring up the equalizer window and press Square to enable/disable it. Basically, you can increase the volume beyond the PSP's limitation and be able to alter sounds. The First Bar is Software Volume Control, bars 1-10 emphasizes each frequency.
  • (by popular Request) Change Display mode by pressing X in visual mode. There are 3 modes: Normal, Suppress Display, and Power Saving (no visuals and uses less power).
  • Play Mode change (normal, sequential, random) switched from Triangle to Square button, I needed the Triangle for the equalizer.
  • Display dimming suppressed (enjoy visuals more).
  • In MP3 file selection window, SQUARE is now the switch mode button.
  • Small bug fixes.
  • Now if I can find some way to mount the PSP onto my car's Dashboard...oh how sweet.

0.11a 2005/07/28

  • 2 new Visuals added: Energy Chaos, Particle Dream.
  • Added Fast Forward, Restart.

0.1a 2005/07/27

  • Initial release.
