The skyPSP Webcam Suite is a pair of applications which transform your PSP into a mobile webcam studio.

It uses the ChottoShot/GoCam and uploads an image every half-second to an FTP defined by the user.

These homebrew applications are written in C and do not use HTML or the PSP's web browser.

User guide

Server application

The server application turns your PSP into a mobile webcam, using the GoCam!/ChottoShot camera for the Sony PSP.

Requirements:

  • GoCam! or ChottoShot camera.
  • An FTP server for image uploads.

Edit the skyPSP.cfg file to include your own FTP login information.

Run the program, the application will connect to the first available network.

Once it has connected to the network, it will prompt you to connect the camera and press Cross.

The Memory Stick and WLAN LEDs will flash during image capture and upload.

The captured image is saved at the designated FTP server address as www.yourdomain.com/skyPSPcam.jpg.

Client application

Note: No longer supported.

The client application allows you to view webcam streams on five of the seven continents, in over ten countries.

A generic list of random public Earthcams webcam urls were compiled to a static text file which allows user to loop through and view them on screen.

This does not require GoCam!/ChottoShot camera.

Set up the FTP server information in the .cfg file, the snapshots will automatically upload to your own server.

If you want to save the images:

  • Hold L when the program starts will save every image to the ms0:/PICTURE/skyPSP/ folder.
  • Press R anytime to save a snapshot into the ms0:/PICTURE/snapshots/ folder.

The folders will automatically be created.

(For users experiencing network connectivity issues, an updated EBOOT file is available that bypasses certain network checks. This update increases the connection timeout from 5 to 10 seconds.)

Compatibility

Tested on 3.51 M33.

Known issues

Also, due to the varying nature of the internet, when a webcam goes down and does not post images, it will cause the program the crash when you try to access that camera.

Any webcams with images larger than 640x480 will crash the PSP.
