REminiscence is a re-implementation of the engine used in the game Flashback: The Quest for Identity made by Delphine Software and released in 1992. REminicence was first released by Gregory Montoir in 2005.

It is a 2D platformer with similar style and gameplay to classics like Another World or Prince of Persia.

This was participated in the NEO Summer Coding Compo 2009 (PSP Game, 2nd place) and the NEO Retro Coding Compo 2011 (Game).

Installation

Note: To run REminiscence, you will need a copy of the data files from the DOS version of Flashback to play the full game (demo is included).

Copy REminiscence folder to ms0:/PSP/GAME/.

Data files go in ms0:/PSP/GAME/REminiscence/data/.

Save files go in ms0:/PSP/GAME/REminiscence/save/.

The eboot.pbp is signed, so it should also work on official firmwares (only tested on 5.0 M33-6).

User guide

The game features multiple levels of altitude. Play as the main character Conrad to jump, grab onto ledges, climb, use elevators, and drop onto lower levels.

Conrad also carries a pistol with unlimited ammunition; a force shield, which absorbs a certain number of shots before needing recharging, acting as Conrad's health (how many attacks he can survive before dying); and a portable force field with unlimited use, which can act as a temporary barrier to block enemies' shots.

Known issues

You can't load a level 2 save from level 1. You have to choose level 2 in the level select screen and then load your save.

Inventory items are always in English.

480x272 is the wrong aspect ratio.

Reminiscence doesn't support Italian language files.
