Fur Trader by is a homebrew game based upon a game from the book Basic Computer Games by Dan Bachor.

Installation

For installation on PSP, simply copy the furtrader folder into the /PSP/GAME/ folder on your memory stick.

For Windows users, if you want to try the exe you'll need to copy the BMP files into the win32 directory, and find a copy of SDL.dll (you can try the ones from the Skater Maze zip).

User guide

The year is 1660 in New France. The demand in Europe for fur is so high that all of the young men in the new colonies of Canada are seduced by the lure of becoming "runners of the woods" (Courier des Bois).

There is potential to become very rich just from leading a party into the Huron village in the Lake Ontario area. The pelts are available, but you have to decide where to go to get the best value for your efforts.

You start with $600 in savings. Watch your lifetime earnings to make sure you don't plummet in net worth. Sometimes you need to establish a market for some pelts in Montreal (Fort Hochelaga) before they are valued in other areas. Make sure you fill your canoe with 190 pelts before you decide where to take them.

Become a career Courier des Bois and work for decades, or take the risky path and retire after a few years -- or die prematurely.
