FF7 Project Omnislash is a fan modification the Nintendo Switch version of Final Fantasy VII.

Features

  • New HD graphics for all Enemies, NPC's, Main Characters, Weapons, Battle backgrounds, World Map models and Summons.

Installation

Version differences

The project has 2 versions, the only difference between them is Cloud's buster sword in game and the buster sword presented on the games start menu.

  • The "Crisis Core" version has Cloud with Zack's iconic gold hilted buster sword from the PSP game "FF7 Crisis Core".
  • As the "Remake" version has Cloud sporting his more FF7 Remake look with the original OG Buster sword with two magic materia integrated into the blade.

How to install

Once you've decided on your version open the corresponding folders and copy the 0100A5B00BDC6000 folder provided within. This folder has everything the mod needs to function.

You'll need to copy that folder to one of the provided paths below depending on what Custom Firmware your Nintendo Switch is running:

  • Atmosphere CFW /atmosphere/contents/
  • SXOS CFW /sxos/titles/

Also included is a folder labeled "FF7 Switch Overclock Config File". Within this folder you'll find a config folder with a config file inside.

  • This config file will overclock your Switch when just running FF7, it will help FF7 run a lot smoother and handle any sort of lag that may arise from using these HD mods.
  • Just drop this config folder into the root of your SD card and you are all set.
  • Atmosphere users will also need to install sys-clk.

Notes on compatibility:

  • Should be compatible with any language of the game since Omnislash is just a graphical upscale mod of the original game.
  • This mod can be used with this Because mod ported by chrome99001.
  • New Threat is not compatible with Project Omnislash, as it actually changes the structure of the original game. The two will not work together.

Tested on Firmware 14.1.1.

Known issues

Known field bugs:

  • Unavoidable crashes - With the Switches limited hardware this project has two story scenes in the game that causes the system to become overwhelmed and crash.
    • These two scenes cannot be bypassed with temporarily removing the Char.lgp, or using CFW input methods to not load the mod until after you've passed these scenes.
    • CFW input method for Atmosphere users to bypass the mod - Hold L while launching the game
    • CFW input method for SXOX users to bypass the mod - Hold X while launching the game
  • Unavoidable crash scene 1 - Temple of the Ancients Mural Room when confronting Sephiroth
  • Unavoidable crash scene 2 - Whirlwind Maze when confronting Sephiroth (If you haven't noticed by now Sephiroth is a game crashing dickhead lol)
  • Another random crash to note: This crash occurs at times but not all the time. but, its best to be prepared for it anyway.
  • At times when entering the Northern Crater (climbing down the ladder of the highwind to enter the Crater) after using the x3 speed up tool a crash will occur. Just restart your game and don't use the x3 tool and then decend into the Crater without any issues.

Known battle bugs:

  • KOTR aka Knights of the Round when being used on Safer Sephiroth in the final endgame fight can cause the project to freeze up and crash.
  • This comes from having to load all 13 HD Knights at one time on top of Safer and everything else going on. So it's best to avoid KOTR in this final fight if possible.

  • This new update in short adds new avatars and enhances existing ones, as well as adding some new custom animations and fixing many existing ones. Various field model and battle model fixes/enhancements, etc etc. Enjoy the project my friends, I’ll see you all in Midgar.

2019/09/13

  • This update exchanges Remake Cloud's shoulder piece to more fit the FF7 Remake shoulder piece and adds brand new custom battle animations for him.

2019/09/10

  • Added a new project build for Clouds FF7 Remaster Buster Sword. Now when the project is downloaded you'll have the option to choose which build you want to install between the "Crisis Core" and "Remaster" options.
  • Added extra bonus goodies for anyone interested, These include a fully printable physical FF7 Project Omnislash game artwork cover for your Nintendo Switch physical library of games.
  • Updated the included "README" to better assist with overall installation of the project.

2019/08/17

  • The project has been updated with new animation fixes. The new build has been uploaded on mega replacing the old build. Simply redownload the full project or just take the char.lgp out and replace your old one to update.
  • For those of you having issues with getting the project to run, please make sure you are following all steps provided in the read me to setup everything correctly. I've just updated to the newest atmosphere build 8.1.0 and the project still runs perfectly for me and many others.

2019/06/30

  • With the last release I forgot to add in the gold saucer textures for the WM model so it was appearing invisible on the wm. I've updated the project once again with a new link in the Hi-res original download section for this new version. It features the fix for that WM gold saucer issue, various animation fixes through-out the game, a new and improved version of the air-buster boss, and last but not least the gold saucer’s security robot that throws you down to Corel prison (the last model in the project that needed an HD replacement) has been replaced.

2019/06/26

  • This updated version adds in some more HD world map assets, a new integrated magic.lgp to help overall game performance, while at the same time increasing the texture quality of all summons. A crisp new HD intro movie and some other updated in game movies, and lastly the new final project omnislash avatar set pack.
  • If you don't wish to install the new avatars and just want to stick to the ones you have installed now then simply don't replace your menu_us.lgp when updating to the new build. Enjoy.

2019/05/15

  • The 3rd part release has just been uploaded. This release finished the entire game from start to finish.

2019/04/28

  • Part 2 of Project Omnislash has officially been released. This second part release extends the project up to the team receiving the Tiny Bronco after recruiting Cid in Rocket Town.
