This is a GBA port of Doomdark's Revenge, a classic Adventure Strategy sequel to The Lords of Midnight originally developed by Mike Singleton and published by Beyond Software for the ZX Spectrum in 1984.

User guide

After leading the Lords of Midnight to victory, Luxor the Moonprince returns to active duty to face Doomdark's Revenge.

There are loads more people to recruit this time round. Most of them will change sides far quicker (and for less cash) than your average footballer, so choose your allies carefully. Also, character preferred terrain type, which they move through/across effortlessly, is correctly implemented.

Mist is a newy in Doomdark's Revenge. It's a bit like the physical manifestation of the Ice Fear from Lords of Midnight (the evil Mist has no strength draining effect when you are in a tunnel).

The big addition for the GBA version is the map. DR has a network of tunnels and a larger map than LoM, but auto mapping makes things a lot less frustrating.

The map is created as you cross the Icemark. Initially only the Gate of Varenorn is marked on it, but each new area seen by Luxor and his allies will be filled in. The tunnels too are mapped, but they too are only shown once they have been explored.

A minor addition is the Guidance Log - it keeps track of the last few hints received, so you don't have to keep a pad of paper handy.

Guidance from the Wise can be found at any of the towers dotted across the Icemark. The last 5 pieces of guidance given are remembered by the game and can be referred back to as needed. Be aware though that any guidance is accurate only at the time it is given, later on people will move and objects may be picked up from their current location.
