Giana’s Return aims to be a worthy UNOFFICIAL sequel of “The Great Giana Sisters”. There is an official sequel for Nintendo DS named “Giana Sisters DS” and also has slightly more levels than Giana’s Return. In other words, it’s worth the money :)

It’s very important to us, that you don’t mix up both projects – Giana’s Return is UNOFFICIAL and FREE – Giana Sisters DS is OFFICIAL and COMMERCIAL.

“The Great Giana Sisters” is an alltime classic made in the late eighties mainly by Armin Gessert, Manfred Trenz and Chris Hülsbeck. The game gained impressive attention but has been damned as Super Mario copy. More information can be found here.

Giana’s Return uses code of the following Open-Source projects in an unmodified form: SDL, SDL_Mixer, libmodplug and zlib – you can get the source code of the mentioned libraries by visiting the respective homepage, as we do use the official standard versions. The use of those libraries is also promoted with a screen “ingame”. If anyone wants to have the object files, feel free to ask.
