This emulator, built on PSCX-Reloaded, lets you play your PS1 ISO's on your PS4, but it comes with a few limitations. For instance, PSCX-R can only run one iso at a time. This means you'll need to swap out the iso on your USB stick each time you want to change the game (instructions provided below).
Also, be aware that the cinematics and sound may stutter (as shown in the video below). This is still the second beta version, so it has some bugs and isn't fully functional yet. For instance, the save feature isn't working at the moment. However, some games like Tekken are still playable. Unfortunately, not all games are compatible, and Znullptr has stopped developing its emulators, so PSCX-R won't be updated by them. Once the source code is cleaned up, it will be published on Github. We’re hoping other developers will continue to enhance this emulator, which could become a must-have for retro PS1 enthusiasts.
Installation
- Install the fpkg PSX.pkg
- Copy / paste your rom in .bin format to the root of your USB key by renaming it game.bin
- Copy / paste by FTP memcard.mcr in data / pcsxr / ... (optional because the saves do not work)
- Launch PSCX-R from your PS4 menu
- Your game starts
