This Aroma plugin provides fixes for games that have security issues that can be triggered in a multiplayer game. These patches are known to work on Nintendo Network as well as Pretendo Network. Anyone playing multiplayer in affected games should have these patches installed.

Supported games for the plugin are:

  • Mario Kart 8 (All regions, v64)
  • Splatoon (All regions, v272)

In August 2023, both games have received official updates to address the vulnerability related to online game and the patch is no longer required:

Installation

Make sure you're using Aroma then download and copy rce_patches.wps to sd:/wiiu/environments/aroma/plugins.

If your game isn't up-to-date or the game gets a new update, this will most likely crash your game on boot, remove the plugins from your SD Card if this is the case.

Changelog

v1.1 2023/07/17

  • Here's the v1.1 release of the Aroma RCE game patches! As before Mario Kart 8 (v64) and Splatoon (v272) are supported.
  • Thanks to @Maschell for porting the plugin to the new libfunctionpatcher framework. This improvement comes with lots of stability and correctness improvements.
  • In addition to the new framework, lots of bugfixes have been applied to the patches themselves which should drastically reduce the number of crashes over the previous version. We've tested all supported games at @PretendoNetwork and have confirmed it's stable.

2022/12/26

  • Initial release, refer to the README for the features.
  • Special thanks to @ashquarky for the patcher framework and various help regarding the development environment which made this a lot easier to implement.
  • As well as @GaryOderNichts for the help provided with the build system and inting towards the correct libraries.
  • Special thanks to @PretendoNetwork for caring about the console still.
