This is a remake of the classic C64 game Mayhem In Monsterland written by the Rowland brothers.

Features

  • Runs at a staggering 60fps.
  • The sound track adjusts to the game, so harder bits have scarier tunes.
  • Each level has upto 100 baddies.
  • Rather cunningly it uses exactly the same method for parralex scrolling in-game as the C64 did.
  • The slope code uses pixel level collision even when travelling at warp speeds.
  • There are 3 Unique Levels, each with a Sad and Happy versions, making 6 massive levels to play.

Installation

Copy the Mayhem folder to ms0:/PSP/GAME/.

User guide

Your job is to run around monsterland, clearing each land of baddies and collecting either Magic Dust or Star depending on whether the level is happy or sad.

To assist you, you can also collect heart for extra energy (or an extra life if your energy is at max), and use the door to save your current progress.

Once you have killed enough bad guys and collected the required amount of Magic Dust or Star, head over to the exit.

And if you need some extra speed, press the triggers whilst moving to go into turbo mode.

Controls

Left/Right - Move left/right

Down - Duck

Cross - Jump

Cross whilst ducking - Fall through thin ledges

L/R whilst moving - Turbo mode
