Decadrop is a homebrew puzzle game where you make vertical lines of 4 or more consecutive coloured blocks by shifting rows left and right and rotating the grid. Simple, but fun to play.
User guide
The object of the game is to line up 4 or more blocks of the same colour vertically. You do this by shifting the blocks across and also by rotating the grid in which the blocks are located.
When you rotate the grid, this also rotates the gravitational pull, causing all the blocks to fall to the new "ground" direction. Various powerups will help you along the way, which will be discovered in-game.
Basic rules
- You cannot rotate while you are shifting.
- You cannot shift while you are rotating.
- If all blocks in a row are not perfectly aligned, you cannot shift that row.
- You cannot select another row while a row is being shifted.
- While rotation or shifting is occuring, gravity is no longer in effect.
Scoring
For each block you clear, you get the amount of blocks you cleared, squared, added to your score - this means, the more blocks you clear in one go, the more points you get (so it's better to try and clear 5+ in one go, rather than just 4).
Before the score is added to your total score, it is first multiplied by your current combo. You increase your combo by clearing blocks in quick succession (3.5 seconds maximum between each clear before the combo is reset). The speed increases as your score increases (level 5 is the maximum speed).
Game tips
Only read this if you are having troubles with the game.
- Use the turbo button at the start to progress gameplay quicker
- Make use of the rotation feature to align blocks. It is sometimes quicker than shifting them
- Try to maximise your score by increasing your combo
- It is harder to increase your combo when the game is running slowly - use the turbo button to align falling blocks better.
