Pokémon Compass is a Scarlet and Violet overhaul romhack/mod designed to be a vanilla-enhanced experience that focuses on the following:

  • Smoother progression through the main stories.
  • Gradually ramping increased difficulty in trainer battles and post-game battles.
  • Revamped raids and raid rewards.
  • Wider selection of Pokémon both in the wild and added to raids.

Quality of Life features are included to smooth out some of what we consider to be design deficiencies, or just to make exploration a little bit nicer, giving better access to EV items, evolution items, recovery consumables, etc.

Pokémon Compass Documentation.

Changelog

Version 1.1.2.0

  • Path of Legends Changes:
    • Arven sees a notable change to his partners for the Titan battles, with several replacement Pokémon.
    • Arven has a new team for the end of the Path of Legends storyline to match the above changes.
    • Some dialogue has been adjusted where necessary due to these changes.
  • Pokédex Additions:
    • The Pokédex has been updated with replacements for the WIP pictures for all newly-added Pokémon.
    • Textures have been added for the Recently Battled and Recently Caught shortcuts for newly-added Pokémon.
    • All habitat hint strings for new Pokémon have been included where necessary.
  • Other Changes and Fixes:
    • The Pokédex entries have been corrected to address a missing 404 entry.
    • Slowbro now has the correct Pokédex ID number and displays properly in the player Boxes.
    • The False Dragon Titan no longer uses a move that damages itself.
    • Quick workaround for an issue caused by base game’s “off-by-one” logic error: All Pokémon with a 1 Weight for their spawn rules have been increased to 3.

Version 1.1.1.3

  • Fixed what amounts to a legacy issue where a flag necessary to remove version exclusivity was not in fact being changed. Oops.
  • All wild encounters from both versions are now properly available once again.

Version 1.1.1.2

  • No bugfixes or anything for this particular release.
  • It's more of a maintenance release to allow players using the Standalone to play on Scarlet/Violet 1.3.0.
  • Players using the Trinity version are will need to rebuild their mods using the latest data.trpfd from Scarlet/Violet 1.3.0 anyway.

Version 1.1.1.1

  • 1.1.1-1 - A Hotfix of Many 1s.
  • Area Zero was broken! Nothing was spawning in the underground areas and wrong levels all over the place. The hotfix resolves this issue.
  • A small bugfix where Two-Segment Dudunsparce was not able to (but was meant to) spawn in Area Zero rarely as well.
  • It is highly recommended that you update to this hotfix, especially if you plan to do anything in Area Zero!

Version 1.1.1

  • Raid Balance Adjustments (for 6★ and 7★):
    • Total time to complete these raids has been increased.
    • Shielding totals and/or mitigation amounts changed.
    • Movesets have been adjusted significantly for nearly every one of these raids.
    • Type coverage has been reduced, giving more potential counter-pick choices.
  • Raid Loot Adjustments:
    • Tera Shard and Exp. Candy increases in raid loot rewards.
    • 5★ raids have had their loot tables reworked to be the go-to for post-game 6★ and 7★ team preparation.
    • 6★ and 7★ raids have had their loot tables adjusted to no longer include team building items, but give other rewards instead.
  • Other Raid Changes:
    • 7★ raids which had held items relating to their alternate forms no longer have these items. Zacian and Zamazenta do still have their Rusted items.
    • Calyrex Ice Rider and Calyrex Shadow Rider are no longer catchable in the 7★ raids, to address an issue that could cause the player to permanently lose a Spectrier or Glastrier they have caught.
    • 4★ and 5★ raids have had their Tera non-STAB mitigation during shield phase reduced to be in-line with the changes from patch 1.1.0.
    • The 7★ ace Pikachu and 7★ Arceus fight can be completed as many times as you would like now.
  • Arceus raid now has a new loot table specific for it.
  • Habitat Data:
    • The Habitat indicator in-game has been updated for all Pokémon in Compass, with correct locations marked on the map.
  • Wild Encounter Changes:
    • Starters are now less prevalent in the early game.
    • Over 70 changes were made to spawn rules. See the full patch notes for details.
    • Vivillon-family spawning rates have been changed due to the 1.2.0 patch, and are less common all over the world.
  • Other Changes:
    • Rio, Ren, and Roo now all have a place near their restaurant in Montenevera. Go say hi~
    • A few incorrect vanilla spawn points that could spawn some encounters outside of the world have been removed.
    • Compass bug fixes including incorrect rewards for Calyrex Rider-form fights and some out-of-range spawning levels in Asado Desert.

Version 1.1.0.1

  • Bug Fix:
    • The DLC items are fixed and should be now visible to people that have purchased the DLC.

Version 1.1.0

  • Post-game Raid Redux:
    • The Post-game raids (6★, 6★ event, and the 7★ event) have been moved around and rebalanced, with more emphasis on individual strengths and weaknesses, and also capitalizing on the new ScVi 1.2.0 changes to the way raids start.
    • 6★ raids now have all the Mythical Pokémon and their alternate forms.
    • 6★ event raids have all of the Legendary Pokémon (except those included in 7★ instead), and you can face four of these per day (up from one).
    • 7★ event raids have all the alternate form Legendaries, special Legendaries, and all the challenge raids. You can face off against four of these per day (up from one).
    • Five new ace encounters have been added to 7★. Good luck!
  • Wild Encounters & Integration:
    • The two new Paradox Pokémon have been added into Compass and integrated into the world.
    • All of the Pokémon Compass adds are now properly integrated into the world and exhibit a variety of behaviors similar to the original Pokémon. Additionally, over 25 group spawns have been corrected and now spawn and behave properly.
  • Pokédex Fixes:
    • The expanded Pokédex now provides dex entries for all Pokémon added, including the new ones and Hisuian.
  • Other Fixes:
    • Some raid trainers have been changed around to be a bit more useful or have corrections.
    • You now have access to all of the TMs from the beginning of the game.
    • We've resolved several known issues regarding the Pokédex and the problem of missing sandwich names in the sandwich shops around the world.

Version 1.0.5

  • Bug Fixes:
    • A 4★ raid reward that would reward the player with 70 Shiny Stones has been corrected to only reward the player with 1.
    • A 6★ Volcanion raid has been added, with standard 6★ appearance rate, difficulty, and rewards. This was previously unavailable as an encounter due to a mistake, so this is a "bug fix" rather than "new content".

Version 1.0.4

  • Bug Fixes:
    • Fixed an issue in a few trainer encounters that resulted in them not having a Galarian Slowbro in their party when they were meant to.
    • Fixed an issue with a 4★ raid that would appear as an egg — Galarian Slowbro now appears in raids properly.

Version 1.0.3

  • Bug Fixes:
    • An issue has been resolved that caused the Ruchbah Squad's Starmobile to have incredibly low HP.
    • A trainer in West Province Area Three that had a Charizard with the wrong moveset has been corrected to now have appropriate Charizard moves.
    • Arven's partner moveset has been adjusted for the Lurking Steel Titan fight — he will no longer heal the Titan sometimes.

Version 1.0.2

  • 1.0.2: Congruence Patch -- It is HIGHLY recommended to update to this version as it fixes a number of pokemon spawning issues.
  • It's Not a Bug If It's Intentional:
    • Nemona goes a bit overboard in her first battle with you. Lines and a scene were added to integrate her bad manners into the fight appropriately.
    • This was previously considered a bug and removed in 1.0.1, but due to the popularity of its (at the time unintentional) inclusion, it's back~
  • Bug Fixes:
    • Corrected spawn locations for several Pokémon added by Compass to make sure they match the documentation properly.
    • This affects the following Pokémon: Charmander, Cyndaquil, Chespin, Braixen, Grookey, Sobble, Alolan Meowth, Alolan Raichu, Hisuian Qwilfish, Quaxly, Quaxwell, Johtonian Wooper.
    • Corrected an issue that caused certain Pokémon not to spawn correctly and overwrite other spawns. This affects the following Pokémon : Roaming Form Gimmighoul, and certain spawns for Fennekin.
    • Corrected an issue wherein certain forms of Scatterbug were more commonly spawned than others — All forms now have the same likelihood of spawning.
    • The German line for the Strange Mirror had a linebreak added and is now readable.
  • Notable Documentation Update:
    • The spawn locations for some Pokémon were not correctly identified in the document, and have been updated.
    • This affects the following Pokémon: Alolan Persian, Galarian Meowth, White-Striped Basculin, and Fuecoco.
  • Known Issues:
    • The day-night cycle is a bit oddly-behaving sometimes, and some Pokémon might spawn outside of the spawn times they're supposed to be restricted to. This is a base game issue, but will be added to the documentation.

Version 1.0.1

  • New Translations:
    • Regional and alternate forms for nearly all Pokémon now also have their Spanish, German, and French translations included. See the Known Issues below for some of the weirdness that came about from this.
    • Labels have been added in Spanish, German, and French to the map indicating levels similar to the English version. Rio, Ren, and Roo's Restaurant and the other labels have also been added or been translated as necessary.
    • A few other text corrections and translations have been made, such as trainers referring to Pokémon they no longer have being fixed, and improved German translation for the Smooth Mirror item (further thanks to Key for his adjustments here).
  • Bug Fixes:
    • Re-removed Nemona's bad manners of Terastallizing in your very first battle after mistakenly re-introducing this bug. Could totally see her doing it, and it isn't likely to affect gameplay, but it wasn't intentional.
  • Known Issues:
    • Urshifu has a base game mistake in its Pokédex entry, as the game looks for an incorrect value for its description. This means that the displayed text for Rapid Strike Style Urshifu is the same as Single Strike Style, and is thus incorrect. This'll have to be corrected by GameFreak.
    • None of the Hisuian Pokémon have entries; similar to the incorrect Urshifu, there is a missing section of the data here that would be used for all the Hisuian Pokémon. The dex still works, but there are no entries for them. We cannot do anything about this.
