As a Yo-kai Watch fan, DrgnMasterKota knows that both Yo-kai Watch 1 and Yo-kai Watch 4 for the Nintendo Switch have been available in Japan for some time. Unfortunately, no new information has been released about their localization outside of Japan. To solve this problem, DrgnMasterKota took on a translation mod project.
The translation mod project is now complete and covers the entire game. In the future, additional polishing changes will be made to the game, such as swapping out in-game images and icons with translated versions. However, this requires the Kuriimu2 program to be updated to handle the necessary files, which may take some time.
Once the program is updated, DrgnMasterKota plans to make those final polishing touches to the mod. DrgnMasterKota has also created a project Discord for those who want to join and stay updated on the latest developments and potentially help with the project and other ongoing projects.
Installation
(MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE OFFICIAL UPDATED GAME VERSION 1.0.3)
Installation of the project is very easy and straight forward. Everything is built around LayeredFS. So all you have to do is move the supplied "0100C0000CEEA000" folder to the corresponding directory listed below depending on what Firmware you are using.
- ATMOSPHERE DIRECTORY: Atmosphere/contents
- SXOS DIRECTORY: SXOS/titles 0100C0000CEEA000/romfs
Keep in mind when updating the mod to a newer released version it is always advisable to delete all the old files to avoid any possible errors or data corruption that might occur. Just delete the entire old folder and move the new versions folder in its place.
