B.L.I.N.D. (Blind Loads in NTSC Display) is an application that helps fix region bricks on Wii consoles.

Ways to fix region bricks have been around for a long time. As long as you can boot up Any Region Changer and see the screen, you can fix it. But what if you can't see the screen to fix the setting? While most TV's in Europe support both PAL and NTSC output, very few North American TV's support PAL. That means if you changed the video region of your Wii from NTSC to PAL or MPAL, you will almost certainly get a No Signal screen when loading Any Region Changer.

Unlike other apps, B.L.I.N.D. doesn't care what setting you have. It will always force the display to NTSC, meaning almost every TV will be able to display it. You no longer have to blindly press buttons and hope you fix the settings. Without seeing what you are changing, you could easily make it worse.

Features

  • Types of bricks that B.L.I.N.D. can potentially fix:
    • Theme Brick.
    • Region Brick.
    • Banner Brick.
    • Full Brick (only if you have BootMii as boot2).
    • Bad AV Encoder (only sometimes).
    • Korean Brick - 003 error.

User guide

Priiloader+BootMii as IOS

  • Download B.L.I.N.D. v2.0.
  • Back up your bootmii folder if you have one.
  • Extract the downloaded zip to the root of your SD card.
  • Plug your SD card into your Wii.
  • Press the Power button, then immediately press and hold the RESET button. Keep holding it for roughly 10 seconds to make sure Priiloader boots.
  • Tap "1" on your remote and wait for it to connect.
  • Press Down twice, then A.
  • Let B.L.I.N.D. boot up and choose Advanced Menu.
  • Select Region Changer.
  • Press A to get past the warning screen.
  • Change "Present" to whatever region your Wii is supposed to be and choose "Load Present".
  • Save your settings and power off your Wii.
  • Remove your SD card, power on the Wii, and make sure it worked.

BootMii as boot2

  • Download B.L.I.N.D. v2.0.
  • Back up your bootmii folder if you have one.
  • Extract the downloaded zip to the root of your SD card.
  • Plug your SD card into your Wii and power it on.

DarkCorp+Autoboot disc

For this method you will need a cIOSCorp/DarkCorp System Menu IOS. A drive capable of reading burned discs and cIOS249 is also required.

  • Download B.L.I.N.D. v2.0 Autoboot Disc.
  • Burn it to a DVD-R disc at 4x speed.
  • Make sure there is an SD card in your Wii. It can be blank.
  • Power up your Wii and wait for around 10 seconds.
  • Insert the DVD in and wait for B.L.I.N.D. to load.
  • Press Left on the D-Pad and select 249.
  • Select the Advanced Menu, then Region Changer.
  • Press A to get past the warning screen.
  • Change "Present" to whatever region your Wii is supposed to be and choose "Load Present".
  • Save your settings and power off your Wii.
  • Eject the DVD, power on the Wii (it may do so on it's own), and make sure it worked.

Changelog

v2.0

  • Load any version of the HBC, including mauifrog's backup (MAUI).
  • Load BootMii as IOS, and it checks to make sure 254 isn't a stub first.
  • Cleaned up the "Other Menu" options and changed name to "Other Tools".
  • Added "Load System Menu" which does a soft reboot so that Priiloader AND Bootmii as boot2 autoboot settings are bypassed. Especially useful if you used cboot2.
  • Added more info to "Display boot2 information" regarding System Menu updates.
  • System Menu installer always starts at 4.1 instead of 2.0/3.3.
  • "Change IOS" now defaults to your current IOS instead of IOS36.
  • 54XXX (XXX is the original version) is now an option when choosing a custom version of the System Menu, matching up with mauifrog's SM and my custom hacks file.
  • I noted the version of Wii Mod that BLIND is based on (2.9 ATM).
  • Lots of code cleanup and extra notes in source.
  • cBoot252 is supported.
  • Exiting now tries to load the HBC, then shuts down if no version exists.
  • Your IOS is auto-reloaded in Region Changer, so it is no longer a necessary step when using the Autoboot disc.
  • It now supports component cables!
  • Added resolution and widescreen settings to system info.
  • Lets you switch between Progressive and Interlaced.
  • Doesn't auto-reload an IOS if you are in cboot2 or AHBPROT.
  • Region Changer is now Any Region Changer.
  • Added explanation for no titles error in Any Title Manager.
  • Now uses actual arrows instead of "-->".
  • Added "Idiot flag triggered!" warnings in case you are about to do something stupid.
  • If there is a code dump, it should reload after 5 seconds instead of freezing.

v1.0

  • First public release.
