Important Note for 3DS Users
If you have Wumiibo 3DS enabled, the patch will not work. Make sure Wumiibo is disabled before scanning any Amiibo or NFC tag.
Why Use This Patch?
When writing an Amiibo to a blank Ntag215 NFC tag using an app like TagMo, certain parts of the data—such as the Amiibo character ID, variant, figure type, model number, and series—become read-only. This prevents you from reusing the tag for different Amiibos, requiring you to buy multiple tags for each one.
Why Not Just Use Wumiibo or re_nfpii?
While apps like Wumiibo or re_nfpii can emulate Amiibos, they have some limitations. For example, certain games may experience severe lag or even fail to work when using these apps. Additionally, this patch allows you to use physical NFC tags, giving you the authentic Amiibo experience with added flexibility. You can also share these rewritable tags with others who have the patch installed.
How Does the Patch Work?
The patch modifies the NFC system module on your console to disable the checks that enforce read-only restrictions. By bypassing these checks, you can use write-enabled tags, allowing you to rewrite them with different Amiibos.
This way, you can reuse a single NFC tag multiple times instead of being forced to lock it to one specific Amiibo. However, you'll need to rewrite the tag each time you want to change the Amiibo stored on it.
