This hack translates Samurai Dou Portable using the US PS2 version Way of the Samurai script. Everything was typed in manually despite having an English script available. While certain sections of the translation were subpar, but most of it is understandable.

The game is mostly translated except for:

  • Some graphics haven’t been translated. This includes the credits and the very last screens on Ending 3, Ending 4, and Ending 5. They are just hints on how to get better endings.
  • Phase 03, Event 11. It seems to be an event between Chelsea and Tesshin.
  • TextData.bin was just quickly Google Translated, it could use a better translation.
  • System messages (save screen, quit screen, etc.) Not really sure how to change these. Also, if your PSP is not a Japanese PSP you need to use the X button on these screens.

User guide

In 1878, the collapse of the Tokugawa Shogun Age and the rise of the Meiji Restoration Era brought an end to the Age of Samurai. Way of the Samurai puts you in the role of a wandering samurai who is drawn into a conflict between the Kurofu family and the Akadama Clan over an iron foundry.

As you meet with both sides of the dispute, you can use deception, betrayal, or combat to shape the outcome of the conflict. Pick up dozens of different swords, each representing a different fighting style.
