CBHC, short for ColdBoot HaxChi, is a project that implements coldboothax as explained by smealum using a DS VC game for its exploit.

Note: Only install this if you have already installed Haxchi, which gives you simple channel access to other homebrew programs without the need of the browser exploit anymore. Installing CBHC on the other hand is far, far more risky but will allow coldboot into patched menu/homebrew. For a less risky coldboot, it is recommended upgrading to Tiramisu instead.

Features

  • The system menu with full signature and region patching, supporting ftpiiu-everywhere. CBHC includes its sysnand CFW.
  • Can to boot the .elf version of the homebrew launcher.
  • Can boot fw.img or Mocha CFW on your SD card (useful for rednand and developers). For most users, the system menu setting with CBHC CFW is sufficient, as using Mocha or fw.img for sysnand may lead to bootup problems.
  • The vWii system menu or the vWii homebrew channel. Holding down B on boot automatically boots into the vWii system menu.

Installation

User guide

Installing CBHC executes the chosen DS VC game directly on system boot, providing a coldboot exploit. After installation, consider the following features and precautions:

  • Set up DNS server protection to block potential future system updates.
  • Disable standby mode for extra safety.
  • Avoid deleting or installing over the DS VC used for installation.
  • Never perform a system format while CBHC is installed and autobooting to prevent bricking.
  • Retain the user profile used to buy the DS VC to maintain proper licensing.
  • Dispel the myth: moving CBHC's icon in the menu or placing it in a folder is safe; it's only a visual change in the system menu.

Autoboot:

  • This is one of the available options form the boot menu. When autoboot is enabled, you can use the Home button to access the menu during the boot process.
  • The menu controls are simple: use up/down to move the cursor and A to select or change the autoboot option. Control it using the gamepad, any Wiimote, classic controller, Wii U pro controller, or the "sync" button on the console itself.
  • Cancel autoboot by pressing the Home/Sync button when the "Autobooting..." message is displayed.

Changelog

Haxchi v2.5u2 and CBHC v1.6 2017/01/13

Changes to CBHC:

  • Added vwii boot option to cbhc.

Changes to CBHC and Haxchi:

  • Made installer more stable on exit.

Notes:

  • Installing just Haxchi is perfectly safe and will give you simple channel access to other homebrew programs without the need of the browser exploit anymore.
  • Installing CBHC though is FAR, FAR more dangerous but will allow coldboot into patched menu/homebrew, read this for more information: https://gbatemp.net/threads/452615/

Haxchi v2.5u1 and CBHC v1.5u1 2016/12/31

  • When in cbhc/haxchi cfw, patch system menu version to be 99.99.99 to protect from potential updates.

Haxchi v2.5 and CBHC v1.5 2016/12/29

  • When in cbhc/haxchi cfw it will now protect against installing over the used ds vc title.

Haxchi v2.4u1 and CBHC v1.4u2 2016/12/24

  • Updated installer iosu exploit to be a bit more stable and added tiny debug patch.

Haxchi v2.4 and CBHC v1.4u1 2016/12/19

Changes to Haxchi:

  • Use same iosu patcher for both haxchi and cbhc to allow haxchi to benefit from it.
  • Added new config option to haxchi, "sysmenu" which will relaunch you into the system menu with signature, region patches and everything else that cbhc patches.

Changes to CBHC and Haxchi:

  • Small logic correction in the iosu patcher.

Haxchi v2.3u1 and CBHC v1.4 2016/12/17

Changes to CBHC:

  • Added anti move/delete protection of the ds vc title when in CBHC CFW.
  • NOTE: this change (as well as the last update) do NOT AFFECT MOCHA CFW, they only affect my internal CBHC CFW which you can enable by just setting it to autoboot system menu which will give you full signature and region patching as well as this protection and re-applying patches on reloads; overall letting your wiiu and the menu run as they would normally.

Haxchi v2.3u1 and CBHC v1.3 2016/12/15

Changes to CBHC:

  • When starting up the console with system menu autoboot CBHC will now start the menu into mii selection if no default mii is set instead of just using the first mii.
  • Added system reload patches to CBHC, thanks to dimok for patch location and elf patcher!
