The Sonic 2 Community's Cut mod, which includes widescreen, S2 2013 upgrades, and other features, has been ported to the Nintendo Switch using the Genesis Plus GX emulator. The mod can be downloaded as an emulator + patch and requires an original Sonic 2 ROM to function.

It's recommended to use the ROM included with the Steam release to ensure authenticity, and this project does not endorse piracy.

If you don't have access to the Steam version, you can place the ROM in the emulator directory as either "SONIC2_W.68K" or "rom.bin" for the Switch port.

Installation

Extract the contents of the zip to the root of your SD card
Copy SONIC2_W.68K to /switch/s2cx on your Switch's SD card. After installing the Steam version, you should be able to find it in one of the following directories:
- Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sega Classics\uncompressed ROMs\SONIC2_W.68K
- macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Sega Classics/uncompressed ROMs/SONIC2_W.68K
- Linux: ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Sega Classics/uncompressed ROMs/SONIC2_W.68K
Open the game from hbmenu.
