BootNTR is a 3DS homebrew application that allows you to run NTR CFW on your 3DS.

NTR CFW is a custom firmware designed for New 3DS. With NTR CFW, you have a wide range of options like cheatmenus, streaming (no capturecard required) and a lot more. It's also plugin friendly. In order to use the features on your 3DS, the custom firmware will need to be launched manually before activated.

NTR CFW is the successor of NTR 2.2 (legacy, only works on N3DS and is not compatible with emuNAND) with added supports for O3DS as well as 2DS. This application is not depending on your CFW you are running and need to have support for the firmware.

Note: It is suggested to use BootNTR Selector instead, which has higher compability and faster updates than the original.

Features

  • Region Free. Region-locked games could be launched in Home Menu directly.
  • CFW Menu (e.g. take screenshots, interact with plugins).
  • Plugin support. You can develop or install your own plugins with libntrplg, it will run in the background and is callable via NTR CFW Menu.
  • Realtime Debugger. Debugging your plugins on Wi-Fi directly with NTR Debugger.
  • Savegame Manager. Manage your savegame of genuine gamecards, support migrating savegame from NTR 1.0 to NTR 2.x.
  • Real-Time Save feature.

Installation

For BootNTR:

  • New3DS - Use BootNTR.cia.
  • Old3DS - Install both BootNTR.cia and BootNTR-Mode3.cia.

For NTR CFW (ntr.bin):

Copy .bin files in ntr.zip to the root directory of sdcard, do not rename the .bin files.

For plugins:

Copy .plg files in the .zip file into /plugin/game folder in the sdcard. It will take effect when starting games.

User guide

The real-time save is an experimental feature and have some limits in current version:

  • For most games, save/load must be started in the game scene, do not save/load in movies, menus, etc.
  • The real-time savegame is only valid in current instance of game, the savegame won't be loadable after the game was closed or console was turned off.
  • Load/save must be performed in the Home Menu while the game is paused, do not return to game until the operation is finished. (it may take about 30 seconds)
  • Some games are totally incompatible with this feature.
