IconGrabber can be described as an unofficial steamgriddb.com client for the Nintendo Switch. You can search for games and then preview and download icons that you want. These icons can then be applied to any installed title on the Switch, replacing the original icons. In order to do that, you need to use sys-tweak.
Note: Requires an API key from steamgriddb.com.
Installation
To use this tool, you must create an API key here and use it. Otherwise you will not be able to find games or icons.
If you don't want to use the Switch keyboard to type the key, you can use/create the config file
/config/icongrabber/config.json
with the content:
{ "api_token": "", "resolution_id": 5, "style_id": 0 }
User guide
The Switch default icons are 256x256 but the tool will automatically resize anything to fit. This means you can use 512x512 or 1024x1024 icons (as long as the ratio is 1:1). Once you applied a custom icon to a game, you need to restart the console for it to take effect.
This tool also works for vertical icon themes (with icon resolution 600x900 or 2:3). For vertical themes you must have a special theme for it to work.
If you want to use your own image, you could place your icons in sdmc:/gameIcons/full/ and they should appear in the local icons menu (more information here).
