NP2 for PSP is an emualator for the Japanese personal computer PC-9801E. The PC-9801E belongs to the non IBM compatible NEC PC-98xx family.
It is based on NekoProject II v0.81a.
Installation
Create a directory on the Memory Stick, example ms0:/PSP/GAME/np2/.
It requires the font file font.bmp, use makefont32.exe (PC) to generatre the file (FontType choose PC-98 Bitmap).
Add the font.bmp, EBOOT.PBP and your games into the np2 directory.
According to some documentation it supports .fdi (floppy disk) and .hdi (hard disk).
User guide
To load game, go to Menu > FDD1/FDD2/HDD > Open..., then from Emulation > Reset.
Menu optsions
Emulate:
- Reset.
- Reset with HELP Key.
- Configure (CPU speed and other settings).
- New Disk Font (not availalble).
- Exit.
Configure:
- CPU - Base (basic settings), Multiple (frameskip).
- Architecture - PC-9801VM, PC-9801VX (default), EPSON.
- Sound - Rate, Buffer (higher settings can slow down your game).
- Resume (resume settings).
Screen:
- Disp VSync.
- Real Palettes.
- No Wait.
- Auto Frame (automatically skip frames).
- Full Frame (no frameskip).
- 1/2 Frame (frameskip 2).
- 1/3 Frame (frameskip 2).
- 1/4 Frame (frameskip 2).
- Screen option.
- Liquid Crystal Display (LCD display options).
- GDC (graphics chip options).
- Graphic charger (read more about the differences).
- Enable 16 color (PC9801-24 only).
Timing:
- T-RAM - Text RAM access wait value.
- V-RAM - Video RAM access wait value.
- GRCG - Access wait value when using GRCG.
- RealPalettes Adjust.
Device:
- Keyboard.
- Beep (beep sound duration).
- SoundBoard.
- Memory.
- MIDI Panic.
PSP:
- Clock 333MHz (it runs at 222MHz if it was left unchecked).
- 432x270 (-scale 0.675x, 24px from the left and right, 1px from the top and bottom are black screen area).
- 480x272 (stretched wide screen, -scale W*0.75, H*0.68).
- 480x300 (-scale 0.75x, top and bottom are cropped by 14px each).
- 640x400 (original, right 160px, bottom 128px are cropped).
- Since 480x300, 640x400 do not fit the PSP screen, you can use Analog to scan the whole screen in config key mode.

Triangle - Switch between PC-98 mouse and configuration key mode

Circle - Select, Right click
Cross - Cancel, Left mouse click
R - Soft keyboard on/off
L - Menu on/off
Analog - Fast movement
D-Pad - Slow movement
Config key mode:
D-Pad - Cursor keys or 2, 4, 6, 8 on ten keys
Circle - Return key
Cross - Spacebar or ESC key
Start - Swap direction keys
Select - Swap Cross button
Soft keyboard mode:
D-Pad - Key Selection

Known issues
Games seems to run well without issues, in some cases, the screen may become dark, but this can be fixed by changing the setting.
