CODENAME: Monkey-Bots is a stealth based puzzle game for the GameBoy Advance. One to four players work cooperatively in order to complete levels.

The game was origionally developed for an upper level Computer Science course at the University of Michigan. The origional developers were Michael Roberson, Stephany Coffman-Wolph, and Justin Ronco.

User guide

After selecting the game mode you will be shown a screen that states the name and object of the level.

Throughout the level you will find and acquire various tools, that are generally useful for passing doors, avoid security bots and tricking security bots:

  • Marker - Draw a finite number of lines on the floor, Antbot can follow these marker trails.
  • Box - Can be picked up and placed. Can be used as portable cover, or place on top of trails to alter Antbot patrol routes.
  • Decoy - Looks just like you as far as the security bots are concerned. They are easily destroyed.
  • Key - Open color coded door. Can only be used once.
  • Flag - Need to be captured in some levels.
  • Banana - Increase your health.
  • Cyber Banana - Make monkey-bot invincible for a short length of time.

In order to complete a level, you must work your way around and through various obstacles while avoiding the notice of the security bots. They come in four flavors:

  • Antbot - Follows lines on the floor (patrol routes). Can see a 90-degree range (6-8 tiles). Will alert allies when spotting an enemy.
  • Bombot - Generally stationary. Can see over a 180-degree arc (2-3 tiles). Their explosions are fatal to anyone in a 2-3 tiles radius.
  • Gunbot - Generally stationary. Can see over a 180-degree arc (3-8 tiles). Will fire projectiles to the alerted area.
  • Mortartbot - ALways stationary. Will fire directly at alerted area as reported (12 tiles radius). Mortat rounds travel through walls.
