Noodle Box! is a puzzle (almost-)game that plays like a mix between Snake and Tetris.

It was submitted to RE:Start! The 2022 PSP Game Jam (4th place).

Story

The manager of a large warehouse got yelled at by his boss because the business's costs are too high, and he's been ordered to reduce costs or be fired!

Desperate (and broke), he asks his chief engineer to come up with a creative solution. To save money, the engineer gets the idea to leverage automation by building robots!

Since he couldn't afford to buy new electronics, he had to improvise by dismantling an old game console he had lying around.

He managed to build a robot worm that can magically generate packing materials. This saves time and money! Unfortunately, since it was based on an old game console, there is a weird glitch where, if an entire row of material is lined up, it will mysteriously vanish (like Tetris).

This damages the goods, but it does allow more efficient packing and lower costs...so maybe it's not a glitch after all, but a feature!?

Also, the worm accidentally Tetris'd everyone's eardrums, so there's no audio.

How to play

The game is partially RNG based. It's kind of like blackjack.

Your goal is to pack 50kg of items onto the green cart on the right side of the screen. Every white box is 1kg.

The closer you get to 50kg, the better your final grade. A perfect 50 gets you an S grade!

You generate packing peanuts by growing and eating yourself.

Your goal is to leave every exposed edge of the white boxes touching a packing peanut block before you close the box.

If you mess up, you can use Tetris mechanics to clear space, but if you get stuck then your only option is to close the box and move on to the next one.

Also, there's no timer or anything. You control when items spawn (but the drops are random), and you're only rated based on how many white blocks you protected with a packing peanut.

Controls

D-Pad - Move

Circle - Move conveyer belt

Cross - Stretch (bite yourself to spawn packaging material)

Hold Triangle - Close the current box
