Wiimms Mario Kart Fun is a modification of the popular racing game "Mario Kart Wii" developed by Wiimm. It's a fan-made modification that adds new features and improvements to the game, including new tracks, characters, game modes, and more. The modification is not officially endorsed or supported by Nintendo, the creators of the Mario Kart franchise.

Installation

The script files create-image.bat and create-image.sh are used to convert an original Mario Kart Wii ISO (PAL or NTSC) into a new one named "Wiimms Mario Kart Fun YYYY-DD". The .bat files are for Windows users, while the .sh files are for Unix users. This conversion process only works on file systems that support hardlinks such as NTFS or modern Unix file systems.

Requirements

  • Original Mario Kart Wii ISO (PAL or NTSC) in ISO, CISO, WBFS, WDF, or WIA format
  • Wii with cIOS or IOS with Trucha Bug enabled
  • 12 GB of free space (+3.1 GB for each additional ISO)

Conversion Steps

  1. Download the distribution and extract the TAR archive from the TXZ archive.
  2. Copy the Mario Kart Wii ISO into the root directory.
  3. Make the shell scripts executable - chmod a+x *.sh (Unix users only)
  4. Start the appropriate script (create-image.bat for Windows users, create-image.sh for others)
  5. The script will prompt for language, game language, track names, ISO output, and savegame setting.
  6. The new image will be created in the "new-image/" directory with a size of around 3.1 GB and can be copied, added with WBFS Manager Wii, or burned with a burning tool.
  7. The setup can then be removed.

Creating a Riivolution Template

The Riivolution template is stored in the riiv-sd-card/ directory and can be copied to the SD Card.

Diagnostic Scripts

The ISO Patcher includes 2 diagnostic scripts: view-images.bat and view-images.sh print a table of detected ISO images, and verify-images.bat and verify-images.sh verify all detected ISO images by decrypting the content to verify the SHA1 checksums. This process takes some time.
