In Neverball Wii, players tilt the floor to guide a ball through an obstacle course within a set time limit. If the ball falls or the time expires, the player loses a ball. Players can collect coins to unlock the exit and earn extra balls. Red coins are worth 5 points, while blue coins are worth 10 points. Collecting 100 coins awards the player an extra ball.

It is a work in progress port of Neverball to the Nintendo Wii, currently the game has glitches and poor frame rate, but the developer is working to improve it.

Installing

To run, create an /apps/neverball folder on an SD card and copy boot.dol, dist/wii-hbc/meta.xml, dist/wii-hbc/icon.png, and the data/ directory to the /apps/neverball folder on the SD card. It can be launched from the Homebrew Channel on a homebrew-enabled Wii.

Bugs and differences from PC version

  • SLOW! Runs at 30 FPS rather than 60 FPS.
  • Does not support resolutions above 640x480, though it supports anamorphic 16:9 widescreen.
  • Many graphical effects (reflections, shadows, goal and coin sparkles, antialiasing) are not present.
  • There are a few issues with Z-fighting, though nothing major.
  • Occasional audio crackling and stuttering
