This is a simple romFS mod for MH4U to swap the names of "Rare Steak" and "Well-done Steak", as well as adjust the now named "Well-done Steak" description to be, "Provides a small boost to your Stamina. This one's tough and chewy." This is for people who are bothered by the fact that Monster Hunter games consider well-done steak better than rare steak.

This is currently only compatible with MH4U USA with the v1.1 update.

Installation:

  • Ensure the MH4U 1.1 update is installed in Citra
  • Right-click MH4U in Citra and choose "Dump RomFS" (this may take a while)
  • After dumping the base game and 1.1 update directories should open. In the update (0004000E00126300) directory navigate to eng\data and locate core_common.arc
  • Use beat (https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/893/) to apply the BPS patch to core_common.arc and generate a patched core_common.arc
  • Right-click MH4U in Citra and choose, "Open Mods Location"
  • Create romfs+eng+data directories, to end up with the following path in the mods location: romfs\eng\data\
  • Copy the patched core_common.arc file to this directory

Note:

You can delete the dumped romFS files afterwards to free up space. The main game romFS is ~2.5GB.

A huge thanks to dasding their mhmodtools, which allowed the unpacking/repacking of the ARC files necessary to pull this off!
