Box instinct, also known as Psy-Xtinction, is a homebrew game created using VSIuO (Player VWIV), and a participation entry for the XtreamContest: Winter Session 2010.
Installation
Extract archive to the root of the Memory Stick.
User guide
The game happens in a 3-dimensional universe filled with boxes, which contain either points, penalties, or vortexes to the next level.
The goal is simple: reach the end of the game with the highest possible score.
Type of boxes:
- Gray boxes contain either a point or a vortex.
- Black squares contain either 3 points or a penalty (reduces the score to zero).
- Green boxes contain either a vortex or are empty.
- Blue boxes activate reverse mode if it's the first box opened; otherwise, they give a point.
Several types of levels are available:
- Normal - Levels 3, 6.
- Reversible (contains a blue box) - Levels 1, 5.
- Obscure (contains black squares and gray boxes) - Levels 2, 8.
- Crushing (contains only green boxes. Every second spent on this level loses one point) - Levels 4, 7.
The reverse mode changes the box contents: those that originally contained a vortex will now have a bonus of ten points, while those containing points will lead to the next level with a vortex.
