1942 Advance is an unofficial conversion of 1942 from CAPCOM released in 1984.

It was participated in the GBAX 2005 Coding Competition.

User guide

Gameplay

Shoot the red formation of enemy planes to receive a "POW" and collect this for different power-ups double shot, wider shot, two side-planes, or a "smart bomb".

Using the roll button causes your plane to loop out of the 2-D action thereby avoiding all enemy shots. You have three rolls per level, but you are awarded a bonus for any that are unused. Hit percentage reports are given at the end of each level.

Game tips

  • Get a free plane at 20.000, 80.000 then each 80.000 points.
  • Get a power up (POW) by killing a sequence of red planes.
  • You only have 3 loops per stages.
  • Update your end stage bonus by killing the most planes as possible (up to 90 %).

Controls

D-Pad - Move

A - Loop

B - Shoot

Start - Pause, Resume

L/R - Change brightness

ON/OFF - Switch the GBA ON/OFF (not adviced to use during the game)
