USM-eM Winds is a competitive-oriented mod for Smash 3DS, based on USM-eM Release 0.1. It stands for Unnamed Smash Mod (USM)/Unnamed Smash Melee-esque Mod (USM-eM). Changes include character and faster-paced gameplay changes, as well as a handful of extras like stages, sound effects, an OST, skins, UI, and more.

Every single character will have balance changes eventually to increase their viability, and currently every character is affected by global changes such as increased gravity, altered ledge mechanics, dash dancing, and more. As of yet, only a few characters have been overhauled.

Features

  • Brand new edits to Smash 3DS's CRO subsystem, meaning we can add special fall to moves.
  • Jump Cancel for Fox has been introduced. This is not yet implemented for aerial Shines, so please stay tuned.
  • Shadow Fighters have been introduced. These are all-black voids of existing Fighters. Try playing them on dark stages.
  • Miis added as dedicated slots. Standard movesets. Currently, Mii Brawler only. Will be reverted by next update.
  • Many UI additions such as two styles of the Character Select Screen.
  • New Announcer: Nathanael Platier from Smashified.
  • Stage fixes (model/texture for Temple). All BF Omega Form stages have collisions matching Final Destination.
  • Higher Fidelity Audio for 3DS soundtracks. Compressed OST have been replaced with lossless rips.
  • New Fighters since Release 0.1 include Miis, Shulk, Pac-Man, Ness, Mega Man, Samus, and Sonic.
  • New game mechanics: all global parameters have been rewritten from scratch.
  • Pac-Man now has a real grab; Shulk has a new Art: Berserker. This replaces Shield -- extreme offense with the tradeoff of little to no mobility.

Installation

Note: USA copies of Smash 4 have the best compatibility with this mod. Some recent copies that were acquired in past several years, may not be able to properly run this mod.

To use this mod, you must delete all Mii data/Mii Fighters in order to access the Character Select Screen. And make sure you back up your saves.

To install, simply extract the release to the root of your SD Card, install the .cia, and run it.

Once you launched the game, the title screen should now show the USM-eM logo rather than the default logo, this means this mod loaded properly.

Notes/Limitations

Shadow Fighters are not available for Yoshi, Bowser Jr, Game and Watch, Samus, Meta Knight, ROB, Mega Man.

Special Fall added to Fox, Falco's side-B. Removed on Falcon, Little Mac, Ike, and Zelda's Side-B.

The Announcer can be unstable if their lines are repeated in a short amount of time.

Some certain costumes have missing chr_20 skins, minor and known issue.

Changelog

USM-eM

  • Jump Squat frames have been normalised on all characters. They now range from 3-6, instead of 3-7.
  • Ground to Air momentum conversion has been added to Fox, Yoshi.
  • Rage has been fully removed.
  • There is now a three frame input buffer, compared to ten frames.
  • From now on, you can now grab the ledge backwards.
  • On-stage meteors have a lower chance of throwing the character upwards. (Grounded meteor KB multiplier 0.8 > 0.4)
  • Tech window is now seven frames.
  • Consecutive tech inputs will be disabled for 20 frames (from 30) from the last input, which prevents mashing to tech.
  • 10 points of grab time are lost per input while being grabbed, compared to 8.
  • Repeated grabs no longer are ignored, meaning chaingrabs return.
