After approximately two years of intermittent work on this patch, Spazzery is thrilled to announce the completion of the translation improvement patch for Chaos;Child on the Vita. This is the only other Science Adventure game on the Vita that received an official English release, apart from Steins;Gate. The quality of the official release was wasn't very good, which led the Committee of Zero to create an English improvement patch for the PC version. Spazzery then adapted and ported this patch to the Vita release.

* System graphics are translated
* Some system texts
* Videos that weren't previously translated are now translated!

We created the patch for the European version (PCSB01075), but this should also work with the US release (PCSE01022). Inside the patch folder, just rename the folder "PCSB01075" to "PCSE01022" and it should work just fine.

This is a translation improvement patch for Chaos;Child on the PlayStation Vita to address issues with the official release, which was criticized for its translation quality. Chaos;Child is one of the few Science Adventure games officially released in English on the Vita, alongside Steins;Gate. The Committee of Zero initially developed an English improvement patch for the PC version, which was then adapted for the Vita.

The project, which took approximately two years to complete, was initially started by u/Zero999X (also known as Phantom) with additional provided support from Spazzery.

Features

  • What do the patch do:
    • Improved translation and consistent terminology (i.e. naming conventions).
    • Previously untranslated CGs and backgrounds are now translated. Most importantly - the MAP which you need to use in-game to solve the mystery.
    • System graphics are translated.
    • Some system texts.
    • Previously untranslated videos are now included in the translation.
  • What's not there:
    • In the end of the game, there's a few voice lines that weren't able to be translate, since they're just voice files. There wasn't a feasible way to get around that, unfortunately.

Installation

You have to have the game either installed or on a cartridge, a hacked Vita with plugins like rePatch, NoNpDrm, 0syscall6.

Download the zip file, extract it. Then take the rePatch folder (from the extracted zip file) and place it to ux0: through VitaShell via FTP or USB.

The patch was made for the European version (PCSB01075), but should also work with the US release (PCSE01022). Inside the patch folder, just rename the folder "PCSB01075" to "PCSE01022" and it should work just fine.

You can also use the game with the update (1.01) just fine.

  • Now finally, a good chunk of the SciADV games are well playable on the Vita. What's left is the Chaos;Head Love Chu Chu and Chaos;Child Love Chu Chu games (which will get English fan patches soon from Committee of Zero on PC), Occultic;Nine, and everyone's favorite Chaos;Head NoAH, which who knows if will ever be translated.
