Translation notes
The menus are made in all-caps, simply as a stylistic preference (to match the feel of the original stylized all-katakana menus).
All the "Ojama" modes became "Avalanche". "Ojama" literally means irritation or nuisance, and is a common term for the random or blank pieces sent to your opponent when you combo (in just about every puzzle game since Dr. Mario). Since there is no accepted standard term for these pieces in English, it was substituted with another term that seemed appropriate.
Version differences
The FILMS and One Drop themes are swapped as the first and second themes respectively in the International versions.
Lip's Stage in Panel de Pon DS is exclusive to the Japanese version, so you must use a cheating device to access her stage in the North American and PAL releases of the game. This stage is a simple port of the graphics from the first game in the series, with minor modifications to the trees due to the extra screen real estate of the Nintendo DS.
Conditions to unlock Lip's Stage in Panel de Pon DS (read more):
- Get 10,000 points in Endless, Score Attack and Garbage Challenge (This is the name of Garbage Attack in this game).
- Complete all Stage Clear Stages.
- Beat Vs. COM on Hard, Level 10 (Items on or off does not matter).
