VBA for PSP is the first Game Boy Advance emulator on the PSP made by 499.

Note: The last official release of VBA PSP is v0.03, which however is generally perceived as v0.04.

Installation

Make a folder on your memory stick called /PSP/GAME/vbapsp/.

Place the EBOOT.PBP file into the same folder.

Rename your rom file to rom.gba and copy it to the vbapsp folder.

Note: You can only store one rom at a time and cannot be over 16mb in size.

User guide

CPU clock can be set by default, you may find it slower than GBAPSP however.

Controls

R/L/Select/Start - Same as GBA

Circle - GBA A button

Cross - GBA B button

Analog Up/Down - Change CPU speed

Triangle - Increase frame skip value

Square - Decrease fram skip value

Known issues

As with GBAPSP, it's a level of moving rather than playing, which is more suitable for games that will not be affected by the running speed, such as novel games.

Changelog

v0.03

  • Pushing Right/Left on the Analogue stick turns sound on and off.
  • Pushing Up/Down on the Analogue Stick turns the background from Black (222mhz), Blue (possibly 266mhz) to Red (333mhz). This give a noticeable speed difference on the Red Background.
  • Pressing Triangle and Square increase or decrease frame Skipping.
