Quadrop is a falling block puzzle game developed for PDRoms Coding Competition #1 (Game).

User guide

The game is a variation on a common theme, but instead of the 4-block pieces simply dropping downward, the pieces will start in the center and fall toward one of the four edges.

The fall direction begins as downward, and rotates clockwise after each piece is placed. The current fall direction is indicated by the scrolling border as well as an arrow in the top-left of the screen.

Lines can be completed on all four edges and will result in the half of the screen on which the line was cleared falling toward the corresponding edge. It's not as complicated as it may sound.

Play Modes:

  • Infinite - Play until the playfield is "full".
  • 10 Lines - Play until you clear 10 lines (time taken is your 'score'), or the playfield is "full".

The top 3 scores from each playmode are recorded.

Controls

D-Pad - Move piece

A - Rotate counter clockwise

B - Rotate clockwise

Start - Pause (press Select when paused to give up)

Compatibility

The game should run on all Game Boy systems, including the original.

Changelog

v0.93 Cart Type Fix 2003/11/02

  • Changed to cart type 3 from 9 because some emulators wouldn't load the game.

v0.92 Binary Fix 2003/11/02

  • Padded rom properly to allow use on a multi-rom cart.

v0.91 Bug Fix 2003/11/02

  • Changed a few constants which I had forgot to update after 'final' testing.

v0.9 Initial Release 2003/11/02

  • Not v1.0 due to possible unknown bugs as well as hiscore bug which improperly orders scores sometimes (cause unknown)
