The FM tone generator creates a variety of sounds by processing a certain waveform with another waveform. This project aims to implement the basic principle in the Game Boy.

User guide

You can change the W and M parts of the formula. T represents the waveform's time variation (read position) and ranges from 0 to 31.

The waveform ranges from -8 to 7, and the carrier waveform is modulated by the modulator waveform to generate the output waveform. The second image shown in screenshot is output with the same parameters as the first (with improved accuracy).

Controls

D-Pad - Cursor (currently selected value is highlighted in white)

B - Produce sound

A - Raise the pitch by a semitone

Left/Right - Change octave

Select - Toggle REPEAT (press again to turn it off)

Start - Edit the waveform (when one of the modulator carriers selected), Exit edit mode
