A port of Sonic Nexus to the 3DS.
Sonic Nexus is a fangame developed by Nexus Team, led by Slingerland, and powered by the Retro Sonic engine, which was created by The Taxman, who joined the project in 2008. Development of the game commenced in the summer of 2006, and it had three demo releases - two at the Sonic Amateur Games Expo and one in the summer of 2008. The game has been praised by critics, with visitors at SAGE and various blogs commenting that it is the "perfect embodiment of the classic Sonic style." The character roster consists of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.
In 2011, The Taxman announced that Retro Sonic XG merged with Sonic Nexus in early 2010, creating the newly merged game titled Retro Sonic Nexus. Most of Nexus' levels were integrated into the game and updated with the XG art style.
Note: The decompiled version of the game cannot run without game assets. The game can be downloaded from here.
Installation
Place the .3dsx and .sdmh files into sd:/3ds/SonicNexus/.
Download RetroED:
- Open it, go to Engine > RSDK Unpacker (CTRL+Shift+U), press Select Data file.
- When the file manager window shows to open the file, switch to RSDKv1 and open the Data.bin from Sonic Nexus.
- Extract the Data folder somewhere, and then copy the Data folder to sd:/3ds/SonicNexus/.
Launch it with the Homebrew Launcher. It will generate a settings.ini the first time you run it (it will show a black screen), delete all the contents from the settings.ini and it should run afterwards (or you can just change this one line "ColourMode=1").
