This is an unofficial port of the ResidualVM interpreter to the Nintendo Wii. As stated, this port is and not officially supported by the ResidualVM developers. It only plays Grim Fandango.

ResidualVM It is a cross-platform game engine reimplementation that allows you to play 3D adventure games such as Grim Fandango, Escape from Monkey Island, Myst III and The Longest Journey. As of October 2020 it has been merged into ScummVM.

Installation

ResidualVM is an interpreter just like ScummVM so you need the original game. You need to copy your CD data files to a folder first.

Data files:

  • All the .LAB files
  • GRIM.TAB
  • GFUPD101.EXE (The official 1.01 Grim_Fandango_Patch)

Launch ResidualVM, add your folder and launch the game.

Controls

Wiimote & Nunchuck:

A - Left click (ResidualVM menu and Virtual keyboard)

B - Pick up, Put away

1 - Use item, Talk, Comfirm

2 - Examine item

Minus - Skip cutscene, Exit inventory

Plus - Open inventory

Home - Game menu

Z - Run

C - Virtual keyboard

Classic controller:

A - Use item, Talk, Comfirm

B - Pick up, Put away

X - Examine item

Y - Open inventory

Minus - Skip cutscene, Exit inventory

Home - Game menu

L - Virtual keyboard

Known issues

The port is incomplete, it doesn't run Escape from Monkey island and Myst 3. It uses SDL as a backend and there's some hackish code.
