The cIOS (custom IOS) is a software that is used by some applications that work with unofficial content. An IOS is what the console uses to communicate between the hardware and software. By applying custom patches to the official IOSs, it becomes possible to run more advanced homebrew software, such as backup loaders. The Hermes cIOS are modified IOS that provide additional functions like USB support, Trucha bug, and ES_Identify, which are not present in the official IOS. They are often used in music games with extra controllers. Note that the currently [[D2x cIOS Installer Wii|d2x cIOS]] already has a very high compatibility and this is probably not needed. ==User guide== To install the Hermes cIOS offline, use the [[NUS Downloader Wii|NUS Downloader]] to download the following IOS (be sure that Pack wad is not selected): *IOS > IOS 37 > v3869. *IOS > IOS 38 > v3867. *IOS > IOS 57 > v5661. *IOS > IOS 60 > v6174.
