This is an English translation patch for Steins;Gate - My Darling’s Embrace on the PSP, brought to you by Spazzery.
Steins;Gate: My Darling's Embrace is one of Spazzery's favorite games. Since there is a way to play Steins;Gate on PSP in English, Spazzery thought it would be fantastic to have the enjoyable spin-off also available in English. This provides another way to experience the game! This was one of Spazzery's objectives in bringing this patch. It could be particularly beneficial for people who only have a PSP or an old Android phone to play the S;G games.
Despite the limitations of the patch, the game can be fully experienced - the story is completely readable! Spazzery hopes others will enjoy it as much as he do!

'''Cool hack to save space:''' unpack the game files in UMDGEN and then just repack in UMDGEN again. It will repack in a more efficient way, which saves around 90MB for no downsides.

==Known Issues==
==Known Issues==
*The button prompts for back and confirm are mixed up! When the game says X is Confirm and O is Back, it's the opposite - in actuality, X is Back and O is confirm (the default Japanese layout). They're mixed up because I took the assets from the S;G PSP English patch. I'll redo all of them if I find a way to get the EBOOT fully translated.
*Button prompts are reversed: X is indicated as Confirm and O as Back, contrary to the default Japanese layout where X is Back and O is Confirm. They're mixed up because the assets were taken from the S;G PSP English patch.
*In the end of Kurisu's route, the text glitches for about 6 lines. In the middle of Luka's route, the text glitches twice, first time for 4 lines, second time eating up around 20 lines. I really did try for hours to find a fix for them, but unfortunately I didn't find a feasible way to do so without having to sacrifice other text. Seems like a memory issue with how the text is stored.
*Text glitches occur in Kurisu's route's conclusion (approximately 6 lines) and in the middle of Luka's route, twice: first affecting 4 lines and secondly consuming around 20 lines. Despite extensive troubleshooting efforts, no feasible fix was found without sacrificing other text. Seems like a memory issue with how the text is stored.
*The phone texts. The mails themselves ARE translated, but not the phone system texts themselves. However, since before this, you've very likely played the original Steins;Gate either on PSP or on some other platform, the untranslated phone menu hopefully isn't a big problem to you. If you do know how to hack the EBOOT with variable width strings, please contact me here or on Discord (username Spazzery).
*Phone texts remain untranslated, while the mails themselves are translated. Given previous experience with the original Steins;Gate on PSP or other platforms, the untranslated phone menu may not pose a significant inconvenience.
*The System texts. Again, if you've played the PSP version beforehand, you can probably guess what a system message is trying to tell you.
*System texts may be recognizable if you've played the PSP version previously.

===More minor issues===
More minor issues:
*The backlog is often messed up (text is scrambled). However, what's neat is you can go back in time in the backlog. So use that feature, as it's exclusive to the PSP.

*Sometimes the text glitches and seemingly gets stuck. You can get unstuck by quickly pressing the start button and then the triangle or R button quickly after that.

Steins;Gate My Darling's Embrace PSP English patch v0.0.1 (CyroPynical)

Known Issues

  • Button prompts are reversed: X is indicated as Confirm and O as Back, contrary to the default Japanese layout where X is Back and O is Confirm. They're mixed up because the assets were taken from the S;G PSP English patch.
  • Text glitches occur in Kurisu's route's conclusion (approximately 6 lines) and in the middle of Luka's route, twice: first affecting 4 lines and secondly consuming around 20 lines. Despite extensive troubleshooting efforts, no feasible fix was found without sacrificing other text. Seems like a memory issue with how the text is stored.
  • Phone texts remain untranslated, while the mails themselves are translated. Given previous experience with the original Steins;Gate on PSP or other platforms, the untranslated phone menu may not pose a significant inconvenience.
  • System texts may be recognizable if you've played the PSP version previously.

More minor issues:

  • The backlog is often messed up (text is scrambled). However, what's neat is you can go back in time in the backlog. So use that feature, as it's exclusive to the PSP.
  • Sometimes the text glitches and seemingly gets stuck. You can get unstuck by quickly pressing the start button and then the triangle or R button quickly after that.
  • Sometimes rarely used names aren't inside the nametag.

Changelog

v0.5

  • First Release.
