This patch translates the Japanese Vita only Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory - TV Anime Sound Edition into English.

This version of the game only came with the 20th Anniversary Box and it was a physical only release. It lets you customize the battle music and pick anime songs to replace them. As with the standard Japanese version, it also contains an updated version of the first Cyber Sleuth game, with all the Digimon and player costumes added for Hacker's Memory.

The Cyber Sleuth portion of the game has been completely retranslated, with the exceptions of most of the DigiLine text and the green random quests in CS1.

For Hacker's Memory, all existing translation's quest dialogue are revised. A few quests and parts of quests are also retranslated. Also, because both games share tutorial images, interface text, some items, names, terminology, etc, a lot of Hacker's Memory did get retranslated. The non-quest dialogue stuff are also traslated, like HM-exclusive items, character names, shop text, Mirei's quest hints, Victory Uchida's dialogue, etc.

A list of changes can be found in the readme.

Installation

Requirements:

  • Hacked Vita (Enso/h-encore 3.60/3.65/3.68).
  • rePatch plugin (installed on the Vita and verified working) (rePatch does not work on 3.73).
  • NoNpDrm plugin (installed on the Vita and verified working).
  • VitaShell.
  • LOLIcon or something similar that allows you to swap the functions of the X and O buttons.
  • Install a FTP program in your computer (WinSCP recommended).
  • Make sure you have the proper version of the game on your Vita as well as the game's official patch (title ID is PCSG01126).
  • If you want to install the DLC, do so as well. Please note that this version of the game uses the same DLC as the standard Japanese version of Hacker's Memory (which has the title ID of PCSG01119).
  • The translation patch.

Applying the Patch:

  • Plug in your Vita to your PC using a USB cable, like the one that comes with it.
  • Open VitaShell on your Vita. Press select to start the FTP server. Take note of the numbers there.
    • For example, if says FTP:111.111.111.11:2222 then the 111.111.111.11 is the FTP host and the 11 is the port number.
  • Use a program like WinSCP to connect to that FTP server.
  • Your Vita and computer are now connected and you can now transfer files to and from your Vita.
  • Use the FTP program to copy the rePatch folder to the ux0: partition of your Vita. It will take a while.

User guide

Gameplay tips

These are the Sistermon tutorials from Hacker's Memory. They explain some game mechanics that CS 1 doesn't, so they are provided for those who are planning to play CS 1 first.

They are also far later in Hacker's Memory then they should be considering they explain crucial gameplay mechanics. Some of these are Hacker's Memory-only, but many of them applicable to both games.

In both cases, it is recommended reading through this when first starting the game or if you're confused about something.

Friendship

There are a few ways you can build Friendship (FND) with your Digimon:

One way is putting them on your team of Battle Digimon. Oh, but they can't be Reserve Digimon.

You can also feed your Digimon at the DigiFarm, or reply to their messages on DigiLine.

Talents

Each Digimon has its own Talent. It's a Stat that increases as a Digimon Evolves and Devolves.

The higher a Digimon's Talent (TAL) the higher their Enhanced Stats can be raised by eating special food or training at the DigiFarm.

  • When a Digimon's TAL is 0, the upper limit of their Enhanced Stats is 50.
  • As a Digimon's Talent increases, the upper limit of Enhanced Stats will increase by "Talent ÷ 2".
  • So if a Digimon's Talent is 100, the upper limit of its Enhanced Stats is 100.

To check the values of a Digimon's Enhanced Stats, look at the numbers in () after each Stat on that Digimon's Stats page.

Special Evolutions

Some Digimon can Evolve in unusual ways if they meet certain requirements, such as raising their Level and certain Stats.

There are 4 main types of Special Evolutions: Armor Evolution, Spirit Evolution, Jogress Evolution, and Mode Change.

  • Armor Evolutions and Spirit Evolutions - Evolutions that utilize the power of special items.
  • Jogress Evolutions - Evolutions in which 2 Digimon combine to become 1 powerful Digimon.
    • However, if a Jogressed Digimon is Devolved, the result is 1 Digimon, not 2.
    • For example, if Paildramon is Devolved, it can become either XV-mon or Stingmon, not both.
    • If you want a highly Talented Paildramon, you'd better raise XV-mon and Stingmon's Talents first.
  • Mode Change - Evolution that changes the way a Digimon fights. Its Stats and Special Moves will change, but its Level won't, so use it according to your strategy.

Name Changes

You want to give your precious Digimon a good nickname, right?

Select "Digimon" on your Digivice, then select "Settings." Select the name of a Digimon, and you can change their name.

Think long and hard about it, and give your Digimon a nickname that really shows off your love for them.

Effects of Leader's Personality on Training

Training at the DigiFarm will have different results depending on the personality of the leader.

Digimon personality effects on training:

  • Durable - Raises HP easier.
  • Lively - Raises SP easier.
  • Defenders - Raises DEF easier.
  • Brainy - Raises INT easier.
  • Nimble - Raises SPD easier.
  • Developers and Sleuths - Make it a little easier to raise all Stats.

This is all important info if you want you want to raise the Stats of your Digimon in an efficient manner.

So let us tell you about how personality changes the results of developing or investigating.

Effect of Personality on Development and Investigating

The personalities of all of the Digimon in a DigiFarm affect the outcome of Developing and Investigating.

When Developing:

  • The items that are developed will change depending on the personalities of all of the Digimon in that DigiFarm.
  • And Digimon with "Developer" personalities are special. Not only do they affect the kind of item created, but they also shorten how long it takes, too.

Investigating works the same way:

  • The personalities of all the Digimon in a DigiFarm will affect what kinds of cases turn up.
  • And Digimon with "Sleuth" personalities not only affect what kinds of cases are found, they also speed up the Investigating process.

Memory

We're talking about the memory capacity of your Digivice. It doesn't have a very large memory capacity to begin with, so you won't be able to bring many Digimon with you.

To increase the memory capacity, use the consumable items "Memory Up" and "Memory Up DX". Don't just keep 'em, use 'em! Or they won't do you any good.

Checking your BBS progress

You're taking on cases from the BBS, right? Did you know that you can check how far you've progressed on those cases?

Select "Player" from the Digivice menu, then select "BBS". It's also handy for seeing where you need to go next.

  • Updated caution/warning screen message.

v2.0 2022/12/17

  • Thanks to the great help of our new team member Wieurhel, we've fixed many typos, spelling errors, grammar errors, translation errors, formatting errors, texture errors, and found and fixed a crash in CS1.
  • froid_san improved the tools to fix a crash in CS1.
  • Fixed Digimon Field Guide Menu Evolve and Devolve tabs.
  • Updated instructions to say title IDs of game and DLC.
  • Changed Fake Prof Agumon and Prof Agumon to Nise Agumon Hakase and Agumon Hakase.
  • Because Magna Garurumon (Detached) is too long of a name to fit in-game, and because it doesn't have an official name, I've gone with Magna Garurumon DM to match the official naming scheme for other similar kinds of Digimon.
  • All instances of "comic" are now "manga" except for "ComiMani/Comic Maniac Forum"
  • Updated Caveats section of readme to add note about the manual sometimes not being in English and about a couple of times where the game says Gabumon is speaking but another character actually is.
  • Added Wieurhel's name to title screen and updated version number on title screen.
  • Included information on bugged CS1 chapter 15 cutscene.
  • Made tools instructions more clear.
  • bad_spot on reddit reported a couple of minor typos.

v1.0 2022/09/26

  • After 3 and a half long years of work on this, we're finally done.
