Quake GX Wii is a version of the classic first-person shooter game, "Quake," that has been adapted to work on the Nintendo Wii console. This port is based on the GC Quake port created by Peter Mackay, bringing the excitement and challenge of the original game to Wii players.

The Wii's unique control system has been utilized to provide a seamless and intuitive gaming experience. Whether you are a fan of the original game or a newcomer to first-person shooters, "Quake GX Wii" offers an entertaining and thrilling gaming experience.

So, grab your Wii remote and prepare to face off against hordes of aliens in this timeless classic. With its smooth controls and engaging gameplay, "Quake GX Wii" is sure to provide hours of entertainment for players of all levels.

Instructions to Play Quake GX Wii

  1. Download the game file and extract it into the "Apps" folder located in the root of your SD card.
  2. If you don't have the full version of the game, you can download the shareware version (Quake_shareware.zip) which includes the PAK0.PAK file. If you have the full version, you will find the PAK files in the "ID1" folder of your computer.
  3. To play the base "Quake" game, copy the PAK0.PAK file (and PAK1.PAK if you own the full version) to "/apps/quake/ID1" on your SD card.
  4. To play "Quake Mission Pack 1: Scourge of Armagon," copy the PAK0.PAK file to "/apps/quake/hipnotic" on your SD card.
  5. To play "Quake Mission Pack 2: Dissolution of Eternity," copy the PAK0.PAK file to "/apps/quake/rogue" on your SD card.
  6. The game is now ready to be launched from the Homebrew Channel menu.
  7. As an optional step, you can install the Channel forwarder for the Wii System Menu (QuakeGXWii_Channel_Forwarder.wad, MD5: DC2BA822A20D9E813D0F37C2AD77F66F) using your preferred WAD manager. This will allow you to access the game directly from the System Menu by pointing to "/apps/quake" on your SD card.

Note: If the game does not load when you select it, try using the "Disable Network" option before starting the game.

  • Keyboard Support
  • Joining Multiplayer games over TCP/IP possible (still no hosting)
  • Picking multiplayer colors works
  • Bugfixes

GX 0.04

  • Support for Mods and Mission Packs. Some of them may cause out of memory errors for now.
  • Transparent status bar (adjustable)
  • Variable 2D resolution
  • Weapon rotation with the Wiimote (now you can change the yaw, pitch and roll of your weapon)
  • A new menu for adjusting new features
  • Various bugfixes

GX 0.03

  • Simple on-screen keyboard
  • View locking so that you can aim freely without turning
  • TV overscan adjustment working for the GX build
  • Simple, ugly brightness control

GX 0.02

  • Shouldn't freeze - ever.
  • Pressing 1 (or Z in the gamecube controller) shows scores
  • Power button now works (forgot about it :P)
  • Model bounding box fixes (no more dissapearing models)
  • HBC-ready
  • Command line easy to manage - still needs a frontend for the end user, though.

GX 0.01

  • Hardware graphics acceleration fully functional to glquake original specs.
  • A flaw is that you have to disconnect and reconnect the nunchuk when the game loads
  • If you have the software rendering installed on your sd card, please delete ID1/CONFIG.CFG before playing this version OR restore the default settings using the Options Menu. This is necessary because the Wiimote button mapping has changed.
  • Still has one bug, may hang after several levels played. Please save often and don't play dozens of levels in one sit. If any split-second hang occurs, it's sign that it may freeze completely soon. I recommend saving your progress and exiting to the loader, then reloading the game.
