A guide and patch files to allow for perfect analog controls for Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker + cheat support on the PlayStation Vita.

The main difference between this patch and the RemasteredControls plugin is that this supports RAA acceleration and a remap option allowing you to:

  • Crouch with Square and use the action button with Triangle without losing any base button configuration in game or in any menu.
  • Use Start to remove items inside MISSION PREP.

These changes are addressed inside the provided game manual. If you don't like this, just deactivate MacroFire Engine.

Shooter controls are the only ones supported, you can experiment on your own. Also inside game options set Analog stick Sensitivity to anything from 35 to 40, works best for the Vita analog sticks and the Dual Shock 4 if you are using MiniVitaTV or ds4vita.

Installation

Download contains PSP plugins and Adrenaline assets for Adrenaline Bubble Manager.

To install the plugins:

  • Extract Plugins.zip and copy the folders to ux0:pspemu/seplugins/.
  • Copy the lines inside game1.txt to game.txt, if one doesn't exist just rename to game.txt.

Adrenaline assets for ABM:

  • Place the content inside ux0:AMB/.
  • A custom bubble can be injected with these, a manual updated to reflect this guide changes is included.

User guide

How to use

Basic controls:

  • Select+Square - Opens Cheat Engine
  • Select+Triangle - Trigger Cheat Engine
  • Select+Circle - Opens MacroFire Engine
  • Select+Cross - Turns off/on Macro-Fire Engine
  • Hold Select+D-Pad - Use CO-OPS Communication (if this option is set to select)

Cheat for in-game audio CODEC calls without DATA INSTALL is added and set (thanks to Kabuto_Kun, see below section for more details).

Cheats for 60FPS v4 [Always], 60FPS v3 [Ingame only], 30FPS v4, 20/30 FPS v4 [Default] are added (see below section for more details).

Second analog cheat

Cheat engine and database used:

Note that only TempAR v1.63 is compatible with the cheat, other plugins like CWcheat or older versions of TempAR doesn't work with this code.

Also, if you set _C1 to _C2 a cheat will always be active, no matter if the cheat Engine is on or off. _C0 will be turn a cheat off:

Example:

_C1 Right Analog Aim // cheat on.
_C2 Right Analog Aim // always on.
_C0 Right Analog Aim // cheat off.

Recommended configuration:

Original settings:

_C1 Right Analog Aim
_L 0xE052A964 0x00075084
_L 0x2000100C 0x340A0020

// ^change 20 on the end of the line above for deadzone anything from 01 to maybe up to 40 will work (definitely set to 01 when using with mouse control)
// also affects maximum camera speed

For the best experience, sensitivity is modified to 05, as it seems to be the most precise (not recommend going above 10):

_C2 Right Analog Aim
_L 0xE052A964 0x00075084
_L 0x2000100C 0x340A0005

RAA Curve addon and RAA Better speed control addon should be turn on:

Original settings:

_C1 RAA Better speed control addon
_L 0xE04607FE 0x0018E784

// All multipliers are stored as last 4 digits and are first 4 digit of floating point, examples:
// 3F80 == 1.0, 3F00 == 0.5, 4000 == 2.0, 3F90 == 1.125, 3F40 == 0.75, 3E00 == 0.125 etc.

// external camera

_L 0x20001134 0x3C023F80 // horizontal
_L 0x20001158 0x3C023F80 // vertical

// aim camera

_L 0x2000117C 0x3C033F40 // horizontal
_L 0x200011A4 0x3C023F40 // vertical

// scoped aim camera

_L 0x200011CC 0x3C033E00 // horizontal
_L 0x200011F4 0x3C023E00 // vertical

For best experience, these have been modified with the following settings:

_C2 RAA Better speed control addon
_L 0xE04607FE 0x0018E784

// All multipliers are stored as last 4 digits and are first 4 digit of floating point, examples:
// 3F80 == 1.0, 3F00 == 0.5, 4000 == 2.0, 3F90 == 1.125, 3F40 == 0.75, 3E00 == 0.125 etc.

// external camera

_L 0x20001134 0x3C023F40 // horizontal
_L 0x20001158 0x3C023F40 // vertical

// aim camera

_L 0x2000117C 0x3C033ED0 // horizontal
_L 0x200011A4 0x3C023ED0 // vertical

// scoped aim camera

_L 0x200011CC 0x3C033E30 // horizontal
_L 0x200011F4 0x3C023E30 // vertical

Remap Configuration

This patch makes use of MacroFire, it remaps Square to press Square and Down at the same time, and Triangle to press Triangle and Up.

Start does Start and Square at the same time (to remove items inside MISSION PREP, same goes with Metal Gear ZEKE) like that you don't need to lose any game function (except sorting soldiers, just turn of MacroFire in that case) and still using the face buttons.

Finally, when you are holding Select you can use the directional buttons to run the face buttons without changing stands in the process.

Cheat for in-game audio CODEC calls

Cheat by Kabuto_Kun.

Regularly Peace Walker makes use of DATA INSTALL, a feature used to minimize the loading times in heavy games played from the slow UMD disc by copying some game files to the memory stick. Peace Walker has 2 package install options: small package (320MB) and full package (880MB). You must install at least the 320MB package to be able to have audio for CODEC calls during gameplay. If you decide to not install it, you will only get text in these calls.

The problem is, if you are already playing the game from a fast storage device in a real PSP/PS VITA (from an ISO/CSO in a CFW or even the PSN digital release), this extra install is totally unnecessary and a waste of disk space.

This CW cheat enables the audio in these in-game CODEC calls without having to install any of those packages, and the files will be read from the ISO/CSO itself.

Better Frames per second patches

Here you can find some of this patches, at the end of the list, these ones are also added in this pack but are not activated yet. This is because sometimes they are glitchy, as Luna8moo said:

"I recommend AGAINST using FPS patches, they're breaking the physics in this game and too much also breaks cutscenes."

But some other people strongly recommend it, so feel free to try it out.

Other platforms or emulation

This cheats also work outside the PlayStation Vita, you can try them out, but the goal of this guide is the PS Vita.

Credits

All this is possible thanks to Luna8Moo, he is the creator of the cheat. This is just an easy way for you to make good use of his work, all credits go to him.
