Bermuda Syndrome follows the story of Jack Thompson, a valiant member of a US Air Force strategic bomber squadron during World War II. While on a mission above German territory, his plane is fiercely attacked by enemy fighters, causing it to ignite in flames.
Unexpectedly, a portal materializes, transporting the plummeting aircraft into an enigmatic realm, possibly an alternate timeline or parallel universe. Jack's descent takes him into an uncharted and bewildering jungle landscape. Meanwhile, a perilous scene unfolds below, as a young woman is bound and struggles for her freedom, while a monstrous carnivorous dinosaur closes in.
By a stroke of luck, Jack's crashing plane collides with the creature, decapitating it and saving the woman from becoming its prey. With mere moments to spare, Jack bails out, finding himself hanging from a tree in his parachute, armed only with a boot-knife. Rescuing the woman, it is revealed that she is a princess, destined for sacrifice in a desperate bid to save her father's life.
United in their plight, Jack and the princess become steadfast companions throughout the game. The adventure unfolds across a myriad of static panels, as players traverse through the puzzles, engage in dinosaur battles, and strategically employ various objects found within the environment. Progression to the next screen often requires the usage of acquired items or interacting with the princess, while other challenges may be solved by jumping.
